Blue Topaz and Diamond Necklace – Displayed by the Harvard Mineralogical Collection at the Westward Look Show of the Tucson Rock and Gem Show 2015. This brilliant and glowing gem was shown along with a very large chunk of blue topaz. This natural color is not often found and often jewelry of blue topaz has been enhanced by heat treatment. I shot this image through the glass display case and the necklace was about 10 inches from my lens. Handheld and quick shots are all you get You are trying to be respectful and take turns with all the other viewers at such a show.

Mackay Emerald and Diamond Necklance

Muzo, Colombia

This huge emerald is set in an art deco diamond and platinum pendant designed by Cartier. In 1931, Clarence Mackay gave the necklace as a wedding gift to his wife, Anna Case — a prima donna at the New York Metropolitan Opera from 1909 to 1920.
